Introduction: Tie-rod hydraulic actuators are mainstream in marine dry-zone applications due to their simple structure and cost-effectiveness. By benchmarking against general-market designs, we have implemented several structural upgrades to meet the demands of harsh environments: compact footprints, short-term submergence capability, rapid response, and long-term fluid purity with durable anti-corrosion coatings.
1. Compact Design: Overcoming Spatial Constraints
Figure 1: Internal rack-and-pinion synchronization optimized for minimal spatial footprint.
By utilizing a rack-and-pinion transmission, we have minimized the longitudinal dimensions. This compact integration significantly reduces the overall installation envelope, allowing for seamless fitment into restricted pump rooms and valve manifolds.
2. Floating Groove & External Guiding: Ensuring Fluid Purity
Figure 2: Engineering cross-section highlighting the redundant dual-stage sealing system and the 'U' compensation gap for the floating cylinder head.
Eliminating Internal Friction: The floating groove combined with an external guiding structure reduces the insertion length of the cylinder head. This "floating" logic prevents direct friction between the cylinder head and the bore, eliminating the generation of metallic debris at the source.
Coating Integrity & R-Angle Optimization: The guiding component only contacts the outer diameter of the cylinder. We have optimized the R-angle transition at this joint to eliminate paint sagging. By preventing excessive local coating thickness, we protect the finish from cracking or chipping during transport or high-velocity impact.
3. Dual-Stage Sealing: Precision Control for ESD Requirements
The T-Series features a dual-stage sealing system with precision-managed tolerances between the seals and the cylinder bore:
Primary Seal: Functions as a wiper to remove residual oil film and clean the bore surface.
Secondary Seal: Provides high-integrity sealing to ensure reliable performance during Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and rapid closing operations.
4. Enhanced Protection: Submergence Capability
Specialized sealing components are installed at all internal-to-external transition points. This reinforces the overall ingress protection, ensuring that the internal mechanisms and external anti-corrosion coatings remain intact and uncorroded even during short-term water submergence.
